In 1972, The Militant, journal of the Socialist Workers Party of the United States, sent Fred Halstead as correspondent in Argentina for six weeks. His mandate was to report to the readers of The Militant, about the development of the revolutionary politics in Argentina, in particular on the policies and activities of the Argentine Socialist Party, soon to become Partido Socialista de los Trabajadores.
